Supporting Free Food Fridays at the Richmond Bar

FEEDING THE LESS FORTUNATE PEOPLE OF JOMTIEN THAILAND
Thank you for checking out this page. Whilst living in Jomtien, Thailand, I have regularly visited a family bar near my Condo. During Covid-19, since March 2020, staff and a few regular customers from the Richmond Bar have given out over 30,000 free food bags to the local Thai people. This was an idea thought up by Russel East and Paul Cross to give something back to the people who have made us “foreigners” so welcome. With the help of overseas donations, we have been able to keep this going and continue to help the local Thais.
The Thais of Jomtien are hard-working people and they rely on tourists to make a living, but with no government support, they are currently struggling and this likely to be the case until at least mid-2021… maybe even longer.
I have been involved with this project from the beginning and I am proud to be part of the team that hands out the prepared food bags to the hundreds of people who queue up for hours for a simple bag of food.
Below are a few images of the team in action and the grateful Thai people.
